📇Hardware requirements for running Checker Node Client
Hardware requirements
The minimum requirements for a single KIP Checker Node License are as follows:
64MB RAM
1 x86 CPU Core @ 2.1GHz
10GB Disk Space
10Mbps Internet Connection
Please note that RAM resource and Disck Space resouce scale linearly, meaning that for 100 KIP Checker Node Licenses, you'll need 100 times the amount of each listed resource. Operating multiple licenses from one device does increase the workload and throughput demands placed on that machine. The client software must process tasks such as hashing submissions and claims for each individual node managed.
KIP Protocol currently allows license holders to consolidate multiple Checker Node Licenses on a single machine. This enables more efficient utilization of hardware resources by reducing unnecessary duplication of infrastructure. System requirements to run a heavily consolidated setup with multiple licenses may necessitate more powerful hardware specifications relative to operating smaller groups of licenses separately. Factors like CPU cores, RAM capacity, and disk/network speeds all impact a computer's ability to handle higher throughputs.
While consolidation offers benefits around centralized management, hardware expenditures also scale accordingly based on license quantities co-located. Protocol parameters and best practices around optimal consolidation levels may evolve over time based on network demands and technical capabilities.
Please be aware that these requirements are for running the Checker Client alone, assuming that no other significant tasks are using resources. If your machine does not meet these specifications, you may experience issues such as Nodes dropping offline, incorrect task results, even potentially penalties or reduced rewards.
As an alternative, you can deploy your KIP Checker Node Licenses on a VPS or use a NaaS provider, allowing you to run up to 100 licenses on a single server.
VPS options
You can choose any VPS options you like, as long as it meets the minimum requirements to run nodes. If you do not know which to choose, you can choose from the VPS options listed below.
Ensure that you select a package that meets the minimum hardware requirements. The server location does not affect your ability to pass KYC or claim rewards.
